So I’m a little behind on fashion shows right now (I've only seen couture and some of London fashion week) however that won't stop me voicing my very basic opinion on the fashion shows I have seen. So, here are my top five(so far). Welcome to my incredibly informal non-informative fashion review.
1: Balmain Couture
The iridescence, the shapes, the construction. I know Balmain gets hate for the over embellishment and questionable construction however I’m all for the over embellishment and questionable construction (except that dress Katy Perry wore to the Grammys, no ma’am). That first look IMO is to die for and the pearl skirts are just really cool, hate me all you want. Olivier really just reached into my brain and pulled out my favourite things, god bless. |

2: Richard Quinn Fall RTW
This collection hit me in such a visceral place and I literally think of it daily. The use of latex bodysuits under big silhouettes and 1950-60’s style garments is simply incredible. The reflection of the colours from the fabric, the floral prints, the everything about it, I love it all. The fifth look is truly my favourite. Something about an oversized blazer with a completely black full latex bodysuit underneath is beyond fashion (can you tell I'm obsessed). I want to see every single one of these looks on a red carpet. Someone make it happen. |
3: Iris Van Herpen
I mean duh we all seen this coming (referencing this article). The flowing fabrics based on human-bird hybrids made from 3D technology is say it with me ‘STUNNING’. With the help of NASA engineer turned artist Kim Keever the last two looks are like petals from another dimension. Can I borrow everyone's money so I can buy these and have them to admire in my house on a daily basis. Thanks. |

4: Viktor & Rolf Couture
EVERYONE HATED this collection at the beginning. Meanwhile I was over here like “oh hell yeah this is it”. Compare it to a Forever 21 t-shirt and talk about the many layers of irony all you want I still love it, like who doesn't want to wear a full tulle, ruched, multi-blue square dress that says “no” on the front. I am truly considering flying to the Costume Institute at the Met in New York when the Camp: Notes on Fashion exhibit opens purely to see these brilliantly obnoxious dresses. |
5: Giambattista Valli Couture
Listen, if you give me a high low hem with a full on train you have my heart. Something about the extra-ness of the last 10 dresses really just makes this collection so good to me. If I were a woman would I ever consider wearing them? Absolutely not, but they're great to think about. Dua Lipa this is like your dream collection please wear them all thank you. |
