Fashion is a great outlet for people. It is an outlet for people to explore their ideas and style and share it with a large audience whether it be people on the street or the fashion elite at a runway show, with that being said there are only so many garments that can be designed each season, many of which designs are recycledby competitors and therefore prove to be seen as 'boring'. However, this can be avoided if you find a very specific niche and that's exactly what the couture designer Iris Van Herpen did.
Van Herpen attended the Preparatory Course and Art Design at ArtEZ University of Arts in the Netherlands. In 2007 she noticed that fashion is a little bit repetitive and so she spotted the niche of using 3D printing to make outfits. He latest show centres around the theme of human butterfly hybrids and along with artist and NASA engineer Kim Keever.
She is above and beyond the most creative and innovative designer that shows at Paris Haute Couture. The best part about her designs is that they are not costumes, they are pieces of art that have been worn by the likes of Scarlett Johansson. Tilda Swinton, Miss Fame and Naomi Campbell.
She is truly one of my favourite designers. Watch the latest Iris Van Herpen show down below.
